1. Leave space for strollers 🚼
There’s a good chance that your clientele will arrive with strollers or baby carriers carrying cute little passengers. Our best advice for a seamless shopping experience is to provide wide enough aisles allowing them to move around with ease. Even when you have limited space, there are smart ways to arrange your layout for an optimal flow.
2. Organise your products 🛍️
If you’re selling clothes or shoes for babies and children, it’s essential to organise your products in the best possible way to help your customers find what they’re looking for. They are used to seeing clothes sorted by size or age in most shops, so don’t hesitate to follow this classic organisation. You can remove the gender-specific products and offer unisex departments for a touch of originality.

Imagine the scene: you’re looking for a unique present for your niece, who is about to turn 4. On your way home from a walk in the park, you decide to drop into the cute neighbourhood kids’ shop not far from your home. Your son is with you and has been singing the Paw Patrol song over and over for 25 minutes. As you go into the shop, you ask him to at least “turn the volume down a bit” since there are 6 other people in the store, too. He’s too hot in his coat and scarf, turns all red, and suddenly wants all your attention. He makes the dreaded “I’m bored” announcement after 30 seconds, followed by a few little whimpers, heralding an imminent tantrum…
But suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, he spots it: an inviting play area with a little table, little chairs, a jigsaw puzzle, felt-tip pens and blank sheets of paper… He lets go of your hand, settles down quietly and draws his rendition of “Chase is on the case!” You can then browse this lovely shop’s shelves at your leisure and find the perfect gift for your niece.
You pay and leave just in time before your son starts chewing on the puzzle pieces. The crisis is averted, and life is pretty good!
